Hope was Here (book report)

 

Summary

Hope Yancey lives in New York with her aunt, Addie because her mom, Deena didn't think she could be a good parent. Hope does not know who her father is and believes he will come and find her and her life will be complete.  Hope works as a waitress, like her mother, and Addie is an impeccable chef. Unfortunately, they have to leave New York because the owner of the diner they worked at stole all of their money. They find a job at Mulhoney in Wisconsin at a diner owned by GT Stoop who has Leukemia.  In the town there is an election coming up. The mayor Eli Milestone is corrupt and has been mayor for eight years.  He is running again and no one dares to run against him. That all changes when GT Stoop decides to run against him. The story is about the troubles that Hope is going through and the political troubles of the town.
